Byron update

litter Posted on Tue, February 24, 2015 19:20:04

Hi Marie

Just to let you know that Byron is doing really well. He is ok to go in his crate and being left alone (only a bit of crying at the beginning). Toilet training is now really good and last night he went to bed at about 11.30 he woke up at 2.40 and slept then until 6.40, the other night he slept from 11pm to 5am. He has been clothes shopping (he has been asked for his pic !) Been to B&Q and today we did the school run walking and met A LOT of children in awe. He is very confident outside and cannot wait to go and exploring I think. He likes chewing my doormats and like playing with shoes if they don’t get put away.
I am looking at puppy training : is it important for the trainer to be Kennel club listed ?

Take care
Christel
PS he is on 60fr and g has a few cheese treats. By the way I am finding it
hard To teach him to lay down.

Hi Marie

One more thing : Byron seems to be an early starter : it looks like he was trying to hump his octopus ! He is only 9 weeks !
Take care
Christel

One more sleep….. and then that’s it for the Meinweg Christmas litter…. it has been a pleasure to have been able to love each and every one of them. Cara leaves us for her new adventure tomorrow, leaving just Tarn behind. I aam sure going to miss the little Carabanana, she is such a huge character, full of bean and an amazing sense of humour. She knows her own mind and there is no way she is being left out in any family decisions so be warned family……are you ready for this little amazing girl?

Puppy News:

Skye: has an itchy bum!…. I know but it is something the have to learn to do, the age old thing about scouting across the carpet, is no lie….. its not my fault you brought white carpets bev! Skye has also been and visited nanna and granddad, this she had a good day and needed a sleep after

Horace has been for a weigh in…… 5.5kg….. huge 8 week old puppy!

Byron has had to have a vets trip as he had a runny red eye (plus a drippy willy but this is normal so nothing to worry about) His eye got the all clear, but like I said to the Newbury family, you can never be to over protective with eyes… you only get two!

Esmee has had her vaccination, she was very brave and has also been tormenting Milly her big sister… you will see from Millies face she is none to impressed!

Frankie has been out and about, she has met lots of people and kids plus she has been given her dinner from her Kong which she found a little frustrating, but she worked it out….. the box game was great and the snake git it……. again!

Cara and Tarn, have had a day at work with me again, I am so proud of them as they are so quiet and calm in the kennels. They wee on the pads and not on the bed plus they get lots of attention from the other nurses and vets. I hope that Tarn continues this when she is alone…..

They had a great time running riot outside in the garden, the weather was warmer so they was able to stay out longer…….and enjoyed every second!

Puppy updates first:

Willow: Has decided that she can train her family to worry about water, its something we hear a lot at the dog training, because we love them so much we do instinctly worry and the clever little pooches pick up on it, and then they play on it. Willow has decided that she doesn’t want to drink unless Mummy or Daddy is with her and handling the water. I have advised that she will drink if she is thirst, not to make an issue of it and leave her to her own devices, sometimes the bowl may not be what the dog likes, so a change of bowl is the most I will do (the same as we all like to drink tea out of a certain cup as it just tastes much better!) They are getting lots of fluid in their food when soaked, no dog has yet gone thirsty when water is available,. In all other areas Willow has been out and about and had her first vaccination. She was very brave for her injections though I am gathering from the text that the vet mixed up the vaccine with devil juice as she has been a bit crazy since LOL

Horace had a lovely day, met ponies, been out following girls on bikes, no accidents, playing retrieve toys brilliantly and cuddles like absolute crazy. He absolutely loves his family , (I think) already, he is soooooo social x What a fab puppy you have produced , clever Fen!!!!!! Sounds like all the puppies are getting on so well, which is great credit to you and Wayne x Looking forward to meeting up for ring craft x

Vikki x and the mob

Esmee: she slept from 10.45pm to 5.40am. She is still miss vocal pants – will have to get on top of that in time but fingers crossed, so far so good. Alison

Byron: is loving his family cuddles, he has had his food bowl raised and the amount increased so he’s a very happy boy. He had his vaccinations done a little earlier than the rest due to the type of vaccines used,

Frankie: been to visit the vets this morning, had a check and vaccination, now weights 4.6kg, had lots of strokes and some treats, everyone thought Frankie was so cute and good, and then we visited the pet shop next door. It was very exciting and tiring, snooze time now

Sorry if you have emailed me and ive missed anybody, I’ve been at work all day and had the pups with me, so getting home late and then having to interact with everybody in the house has been a bit crazy – address the emails as update and I can file then post – I assure you I do read each and every one but then I put in folder and they get lost….

Tarn and Cara: have had their vaccinations today, they arrived at work a little unsure but willing to investigate. The turned out to be manic so the poor girls got locked in a kennel and only the occasional hi girls from passing vets and nurses. Not what I had planned for their first full day! but they where little stars, took it all in their stride and didn’t mutter a sound till around 4pm when I think they had so much built up energy they where ready to explode. they had their vaccination and then that was it, playtime, screaming chaos…. but luckily Wayne was only a short while before he was able to come and rescue them and take them home, he reports riots when he arrived home. The pups just couldn’t contain how much energy they had stored! finally around 4 hours later they are finally asleep……. and we get to do it all again tomorrow!!!!

I think both their necks hurt, Cara more so than Tarn, and she has a slight swelling plus its a little sore to touch….. this can happen and is normal so don’t panic if your pups are also feeling a little quiet…… and if not no you cant have it done again just to make it so!

Only managed a few pictures today due to time but have got some of the others which people have sent me!

Also I am not sure if you saw the bag Bev was carrying Skye in so she go out and about with comfort? well I have to say, I got a version and it is amazing, warm, cozy and comfy, plus side is, when the pups want a cuddle at night but I have work to do they can go in the pouch and fall a sleep and I can still type on the laptop….. win win win…. tried to get a picture but it was hard when I was on my own!

Skye

litter Posted on Sun, February 15, 2015 23:29:42

Well Skye has been home with us for 4 days and I’m knackered but very happy, she is such a sweetie! Aunty Lexi has had her world turned upside down but she has accepted her into the family. Lexi has felt the need to tell her off a couple of times but it was because Skye was trying to suckle her. The first 2 nights Skye was up every 2 hours probably wondering where she was and where all her brothers and sisters were, 3rd night was a little better but last night she slept from 10.30 to 3, went out for a wee and poo and then slept through to 6am. Not sure whether it was her stomach or my phone alarm that woke her. Might try going up to bed tonight rather than staying on the sofa.

I took her out for a little walk (carrying her of course) with Lexi on the second day but found her too heavy to carry so we have borrowed my niece’s baby carrier which is brilliant and will see us through until she can be allowed down on the floor. We have also visited the local pet shop to buy a collar and lead (of course she couldn’t have a Lexi hand me down!) for a bit of socialisation.

She has accepted the crate well so we now need to work on leaving her alone in it for short periods ready for when we go back to work – sorry neighbours! They have been warned there may be a little noise over the next couple of weeks.

So, our days so far have consisted of feeding, out to the garden, sleeping, out to the garden, feeding, out to the garden, playing, out to the garden, feeding, out to the garden, sleeping, out to the garden, playing etc etc etc……………………………

She has learnt to sit and wee (in the garden) on command and also loves doing zoomies around the coffee table.

From Bev
